Northeastern University’s D’Amore-McKim School of Business reached a 10-year milestone this week with its notable Online Master of Business Administration program.
“D’Amore-McKim was an innovative, early entrant into the nascent online MBA market in 2006,” said D’Amore-McKim Dean Hugh Courtney.
Northeastern was one of the first institutions to offer an AACSB-accredited, fully online MBA and is currently ranked as the fourth online MBA program in the U.S. by Financial Times and seventh globally.
The program’s 50-credit hour curriculum includes core courses focused on strengthening foundational business knowledge and elective courses that allow students to specialize in an area of interest. According to a 2013 survey, 56 percent of Online MBA alumni reported a salary increase and 46 percent received a new job title.
“Today, there are hundreds of online MBA programs in the market, but thanks to our bold, early move into the market we continue to be one of the largest and best online MBA programs,” said Courtney.
The structure of the prominent program was the answer to D’Amore-McKim Online MBA alumni Gerrie and Paul Bouchard’s busy schedules. Like many working parents, they were seeking a path to further their education and careers. With two small children and two full-time management positions, they needed an option that would be harmonious with their lives.
“We really needed something that had the flexibility with the renowned recognition of the program as well,” said Gerrie Bouchard. “So that’s really what we were looking for and found in Northeastern.”
As for the future of the program, Courtney explained, “Now we must redefine the Online MBA program once again so that we are best prepared to compete and thrive in this competitive market for the next 10 years.”
