The Northeastern Sustainability Perspective
Northeastern University is deeply committed to integrating sustainability into the academic curriculum. A Northeastern education integrates the theory and practice through active learning, problem-driven research, corporate partnerships, and experiential assignments. Sustainability is one of the university’s overarching research themes. Faculty pursue research that addresses global and societal problems.
Northeastern University launched a plan for greening the campus that enlists the help of the entire NU community. The University continues to seek further improvements in campus-wide energy use, GHG emissions, and sustainable building design, and urban land management. The NU initiative utilizes the campus as a learning laboratory. In the research realm, Northeastern University faculty are engaged in a variety of sponsored projects including improving building design, on-campus transportation, organic landscaping, recycling, composting, and energy conservation.
