Profile

Q: What do you do in your current job/what are your responsibilities?

A: I perform a variety of services relating to structured financial products, mostly focusing on Mortgage Backed Securities. My group is relied on in the firm to have the subject matter expertise relating to illiquid debt instruments so that we can provide broad accounting, tax, regulatory and transaction services to our client’s. A typical day involves working with banks on new issuances of mortgage back securities and/or assisting the audit teams in the valuation of the client’s debt portfolio.

Q: What skills did you build in the D'Amore-McKim MS in Accounting program that you are applying at your current job?

A: My current position is more finance based. I’ve passed all three levels of the CFA examination and have found that my experience in studying for the CPA exam and my MSA program gave me an invaluable leg up in handling the Accounting section of the curriculum.

Q: What would you say to someone considering enrolling in the MS in Accounting program?

A: This is an easy way to get all the credits needed for the CPA exam with a built-in support system for advice and guidance. Everyone else in the program is going through the same process and that knowledge share is the key to success in my opinion.

Q: Why did you choose the D'Amore-McKim MSA program?

A: It was an easy way to fit in the credit requirements for the CPA exam while being ready to start my current position the September after I graduated.

Q: What was your biggest take-away from earning your MSA at Northeastern?

A: Accounting is a broad field and I have only scratched the surface of this fascinating career

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A: I see myself in a role that continues to challenge me and allows me to grow.
