"I wanted to be a part of a school and program that had the ability to deliver above and beyond their reputation and my expectation, so I chose Northeastern.”
Q: What skills are you building at D’Amore-McKim that you will use in your future career?
A: The most significant skill I’ve been building through course work has been learning to trust my fellow classmates to do their part in our group projects. I am someone who historically is not a fan of group projects and really likes to take the lead and do the work myself. I’ve learned that even though others may have a different style or pace at which they complete assignments it will all get done and usually a lot better and more creatively than if I had done it all myself. So, learning how to effectively be a part of a team and cohesively present content to our peers has been one of the top skills I have built at Northeastern.
Q: Why did you choose D'Amore-McKim?
A: I really liked the class schedule flexibility, the corporate partnerships and reputation D’Amore-McKim has throughout Boston, and the focus on group projects and presentations. I wanted to be a part of a school and program that had the ability to deliver above and beyond their reputation and my expectation, so I chose Northeastern.
Q: What would you say to a prospective student considering D’Amore-McKim for their business degree?
A: Be ready to present a project every class! If it’s not something you’re comfortable with, know that your professors and classmates will be your biggest cheerleaders and you will get better at it without even realizing it. Also be prepared to wonder if you should change your degree focus every semester because every class is interesting and intriguing. You may genuinely be inspired to want to do and be more.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
A: I hope to be in a successful finance career using the information and tools I’ve learned at Northeastern. I’m open to whatever the future brings!
Q: How has D'Amore-McKim helped you become more?
A: I think it has really helped me in preparing presentations and cohesively presenting concepts to large groups of people. It has also shown me a wide variety of career opportunities and fields I never knew existed. It has really helped me become more open and excited about my future and the ways I can use my career to truly help others and have an impact in the world.
Q: What can you share about your experience with student clubs?
A: Right now, I participate in the Emerging Markets and MCI organizations. They have really helped educate and increase my interest in Social Enterprise and Emerging Markets. Having this hands-on experience really puts everything into perspective and challenges myself and the group to think of creative ways to overcome obstacles and challenges in starting a social enterprise. That in itself is invaluable.
