"When I was researching the programs, the staff was also very helpful and engaged, which made me feel very welcomed."
Q: What do you do in your current job/what are your responsibilities?
A: I am currently a Manufacturing Engineer for a defense contractor. I support the Naval Control Systems and Unmanned Systems departments of the company. With an understanding of the product requirements, I create and improve manufacturing procedures. After the procedures are passed off to assembly technicians, I monitor the execution of the procedures to test the repeatability. My role allows me to plan and follow the entire product lifecycle - from assembly to shipping the product. As a witness to the product flow, I look for opportunities for continuous improvements in efficiency throughout the entire process.
Q:&What skills did you build in the D’Amore-McKim GCBA program that you are currently using on the job?
A:I learned a lot through the Management courses. It has helped me understand how to manage people and tasks better. Being able toanalyze the situations and goals has showed me where my focus should be. Creating an order of precedence to the important tasks has helped me manage and tackle problems more efficiently.
Q:What would you say to a colleague considering enrolling in the GCBA program?
A:It was so much fun and relatable. The classes are tailored in a way where if you have work experience, you will definitely be able to see the similarities.
Q:Why did you choose the D’Amore-McKim School of Business GCBA program?
A:I was a Husky undergrad so coming back to Northeastern was a no-brainer. Also, I like the flexibility and variety of the night classes. It gives a really good introduction to what business is all about. When I was researching the programs, the staff was also very helpful and engaged, which made me feel very welcomed. I also chose this program because the credits could transfer into the Part-Time MBA program.
Q:What was your biggest take-away from earning your GCBA at Northeastern?
A:A hunger of continual learning. I feel like there is so much more to learn. After working for a few years, all my problems seem like walls that you have to get around. With new perspective and knowing that other industries also encounter these problems, I feel more empowered to take down these walls instead.
Q:What are you doing now and how did the GCBA help you get there?
A:I took the GCBA as an introduction to the business school. Since I enjoyed it so much, I enrolled into the Part-MBA program, where I hope to learn the skills to maximize the abilities of my peers while growing the company.
